Intercultural Training

Many organisations have teams that either work in India or collaborate with people there. How well do these groups in your organisation function?  Are there communication road blocks? Are they as effective as they could be?

Resonance research has found that where groups such as software developers interact remotely, a lack of cultural empathy leads to low productivity and unnecessary tensions. We work with small and large teams, initially understanding what the cultural roadblocks are. A programmatic approach to overcoming these barriers is then developed. Over the years, we have learnt that the cultural issues often fall into a number of specific areas and so, Resonance has developed a set of workshops that act as the basis for our team sessions. These are:

  • Becoming Culturally Aware
  • Breaking down Cultural defences
  • Introduction to the Indian business culture
  • How to negotiate with Indians
  • Understanding the Indian systems and processes
  • Cultural issues in the information technology area
  • Advanced programs cover areas such as corruption, trust and business dealings

Of all of our clients have individual needs and great care is taken to ensure that we meet those specific requirements. We are also sensitive to the demanding schedules that people have and so can deliver our training sessions in a number of ways:

  • Face to face
  • Web based
  • Phone based

People often say they are a little uneasy when dealing with people from different cultures; they are anxious, unsure about how to behave and are afraid of making mistakes. But very often this because they have never been exposed to intercultural issues. The ability to become deeply and consciously aware of your own culture and the culture of others is a complicated task. The aim of the Resonance program is to bring to the conscious mind what may be found in the unconscious mind or through instinctive reactions. By doing so, actions and thoughts can be expressed in words and thereby examined. This process gives a cultural ‘frame of reference’ that acts as the anchor for all manner of business and social interactions.
