We are a boutique firm of intercultural business consultants focusing specifically on the Indian and European markets. Resonance was set up by Lisa Kumar, an experienced intercultural trainer, to help individuals and organisations doing business between India and Western Europe.

Over the last 15 years, India has become an increasingly important center for technology development, design and the delivery of services for many European companies.

• The Economy of India is the ninth largest in the world by nominal GDP and the third largest by purchasing power parity (according to the International Monetary Fund).

• The country is one of the G-20 major economies and a member of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) emerging economies.

• According to the World Bank, India’s economy will growth by between 7 and 8% in 2012, behind China at 8-9.5% but well ahead of the USA at around 3%  and the Euro zone countries

• Indian has a population of over 1.2B people, 50% of which is below the age of 25 years.

• By 2015-16, India will be a country of 53.3 million middle class households, translating into 267 million individuals. And by 2025 will have expanded dramatically to 583 million people—some 41 percent of the population. These households will see their incomes balloon to 51.5 trillion rupees ($1.1 billion) - 11 times the level of today and 58 percent of total Indian income. • According to Census of India of 2001, 30 languages are spoken by more than a million native speakers, 122 by more than 10,000. The Official Language of the Union is Hindi (in Devanagari script), but individual states can legislate their own official languages, depending on their linguistic demographics

But communication is between people. And ultimately business is done with people spending time together. Our research has found, that cultural differences between India and countries such as the UK, France and the United States continue to create problems of communication, management and business development. The result is disharmony, imbalance and a less efficient business environment.
